Geneaologies

Last night, after Emma was reading out loud about the Tower of Babel in Genesis 11, she started reading the "generations of Shem," and so forth. I took the Bible from her said, "You don't have to keep reading. Your getting into the geneaologies." She looked at me excitedly with big eyes and said, "I want to read it!" I handed her back the Bible curiously and then realized what she thought. I said, "No, there are no genies in the Bible!" We both cracked up laughing at what she heard.

Disneyland Vacation

Our summer trip this year involved a couple of days at the Hyatt close to Disneyland. We left on Sunday afternoon and the first night was spent watching Disneyland's nightly fireworks from our room. Nana came and we stayed up late with room service ice cream and shakes!
Monday, we spent the day at Knott's Soak City and really enjoyed the water park. That night my sister, Sarah joined us, and rushed through a dinner at Bucca diBeppo's (yes, it can be done!) so that we could make it back to the room for the fireworks again.
Tuesday was a 12 hour day at CA Adventure and Disneyland. Sarah and Emma went on CA Screamin' for the first time! When we first got on the ride, I wondered if I had made a mistake letting Emma on this roller coaster (which is faster than Space Mountain). During the ride, I heard not a sound from Emma and when I looked over at her, her face was frozen and expressionless. I was worried that she would get off the ride, cry tears of terror and never trust my judgment again! However, when she got off and caught her breath, she couldn't wait to go on it again. Even thought she said that she thought her liver would explode, she loved being scared. However, Indiana Jones scared her a bit too much with the snakes everywhere (I forgot about those), so Emma won't be returning to that anytime soon.
Wednesday, Nana and Sarah left in the afternoon, then Emma and I went back to CA Adventure so that she could ride on Screamin' again. We met up with our cousin Tee-tee (Kristy) who also happened to be there, and then spent the rest of the evening in CA Adventure.
Thursday, we went back to Disneyland again. But this time, I was getting sick of Disneyland. But there were a few rides we didn't get to, so we this time we went to Space Mountain, Matterhorn, Alice in Wonderland, the Tea Cups (which we realized is really called Mad Tea Party), and Splash Mountain. The highlight of the day was the little boy ahead of us in line at Space Mountain. It was the first ride of the day for us and a 5 year old boy in line with his mom was screaming that he didn't want to wait. His mom looked at me apologetically and said, "He is used to going through the Fast-Pass line with his dad." She then proceeded to tell me that he had an earache and was cranky because the medicine hadn't really kicked in. I couldn't help but hear her try to calm her son down by saying, "Just be patient." He complained, "I don't want to be patient for a long time!"
